Food waste is collected from households. It is then composted and processed for three months to produce compost. That is how the ZERO WASTE youth group in Zanzibar is tackling the challenge of environmental protection by producing plastic that can grow plants and make Zanzibar green. This is part of the implementation of the climate change adaptation and environmental protection plan coordinated by the city of Zanzibar.
