More than 2500 marine fish fry have been reared in a fish pond dug in the Chuini area of Zanzibar. The pond is made of seawater. The project is part of the response to climate change where currently marine fishing has become challenging and fish catch is not satisfactory compared to previous years due to the increase in sea temperatures. The project is being implemented by the Chuini Community Welfare Environmental Conservation Group which has also planted 50,000 trees including fruit, shade, mangroves and produced plant seedlings with the aim of preserving the environment.
